A city built for saturation mail
Jacksonville is a spread-out city, and most of what it spreads out is houses. 254,913 of its 430,825 housing units are single-family detached homes, 59.2%, in the Census Bureau's 2020-2024 survey estimates.
That makes most carrier routes a long run of family mailboxes. It is the kind of map where Every Door Direct Mail works without much effort.
Where Jacksonville lands in our ranking
On our EDDM Route Value score, Jacksonville came in at 67 out of 100. No other city served by our Miami Gardens, Florida hub scored higher, and that hub sits about 318 miles south.
We built the score to compare cities for every-door mail. Owner mailboxes, recent movers, newer homes and hub distance all count.
Jacksonville in numbers
Jacksonville has 977,670 residents in 394,370 households. Owners live in 227,054 of those homes, or 57.6%.
The median home was built in 1987, and 139,022 units, 32.3% of the housing, date from 2000 or later. Those newer neighborhoods sit next to older ones that need more repair work.
New neighbors on every route
16.0% of residents lived in a different home a year earlier. That is 154,478 people who are new to their street and still picking a lawn service, a dentist and a favorite place for take-out.
EDDM reaches them at the new address right away, with no mailing list to buy or update.
Who mails in Duval County
County Business Patterns counted 683 real estate offices in Duval County in 2023. Home services were deep: 442 landscaping services, 388 plumbing, heating and air-conditioning contractors, 104 roofing contractors and 88 pest control services.
The county also had 751 full-service and 911 limited-service restaurants, 399 insurance agencies, 350 dental offices, 340 beauty salons and 233 general auto repair shops. See house cleaning services and roofing contractors.
Yards, roofs and storm season
A city of detached houses keeps lawn crews, roofers and pest companies busy all year. Many of them pair a door hanger on the neighbors after each job with an EDDM postcard to the wider area each season.
5,000 4.25″ × 11″ door hangers cost $659, and a set of 10 yard signs for job sites costs $150.
A first Jacksonville mailing, priced
In this city, 2,500 6.5″ × 9″ EDDM postcards print for $359, and 10,000 are $779. Ground shipping for 2,500 from Miami Gardens to ZIP 32202 is $89.75.
Postage is settled with the post office at drop-off. Run the numbers in the EDDM cost calculator, or compare options in our EDDM packages compared guide.
Leave room for the ride north
Jacksonville orders travel up from Miami Gardens by UPS Ground, so build a few extra days into any mailing with a fixed date, such as a grand opening or a seasonal sale.
A simple rule is to work backward. Pick the day the mail should reach homes, allow time for the post office to deliver, then time for shipping, then time for printing and proof approval.
If a date is tight, say so on the call. Corey can tell you whether the schedule works before you commit to it.
Proofs move faster when you send print-ready files with the right bleed and the USPS indicia area left clear. Our how to order printing page lists what to send, so nothing stalls between approval and the press.
Call before you pick routes
Corey handles the phone line himself. Dial 512-573-1977, name the Jacksonville areas you want and he will recommend a size, quote it and give you an order-by date.
Calling him tends to get you a lower number than the site.
