Why door hangers cost so little to use
A mailer pays postage on every piece. A door hanger does not, because you or your crew carry it to the door. That makes the printing price your whole cost, apart from the walking.
They also get noticed. A hanger has to be taken off the handle before the door opens, so it ends up in someone's hand instead of a pile of mail. Most people at least glance at what they are holding.
Picking a size
The 3.5″ × 8.5″ hanger is the low-cost option for a short message and a coupon. The 3.5″ × 11″ and 4.25″ × 11″ sizes cost the same, $409 for 2,500, and give room for photos, a list of services and a tear-off offer.
The 5.5″ × 17″ jumbo hanger is hard to miss, built for a full menu or a before-and-after story. 2,500 cost $613.50.
Doors, not mailboxes
Hang them on the handle or knob. Anything placed inside a mailbox needs postage under federal rules, so mailboxes are off limits for door hangers.
Some cities and neighborhood associations restrict door-to-door flyers or ask for a permit. Check the local rule before a big drop, especially in gated communities.
