San Antonio in numbers
San Antonio has 1,479,835 residents in 554,581 households, in the Census Bureau's 2020-2024 survey estimates. More than half of occupied homes, 52.2%, are owner-occupied.
It is also a city of houses. Single-family detached homes make up 58.7% of the 612,901 housing units, and the median home was built in 1985.
A good city for door hangers and EDDM
Street after street of detached houses with front doors on the sidewalk makes San Antonio easy to cover on foot. Door hangers work well here for the blocks around a job, and 2,500 4.25″ × 11″ hangers cost $409.
For whole neighborhoods, Every Door Direct Mail reaches every address on the carrier routes you choose. A 6″ × 11″ postcard costs $399 for 2,500. See door hangers or postcards to decide between them.
Homeowners and home services
With so many owner-occupied houses, much of the median 1985 housing stock is reaching the age when roofs and systems need attention. That is steady work for home service trades, and Bexar County had 124 roofing contractors and 79 pest control services in 2023, per County Business Patterns.
Those businesses compete for the same homeowners. A yard sign at every job, at $150 for 10, and a hanger on each neighbor's door help a company look like the local choice.
Restaurants and take-out
Bexar County had 1,472 full-service and 1,673 limited-service restaurants in 2023. For them, a menu in every kitchen drawer on nearby routes is the classic EDDM job.
County Business Patterns only counts businesses with paid employees, so the true number is higher. Compare folded menu mailers on EDDM Specials.

Choosing San Antonio routes
With so many detached houses, San Antonio routes are often made up mostly of homes, which suits home services and restaurants alike. The USPS EDDM map shows the residential and business count of each route so you can pick the right ones.
Begin with the neighborhoods closest to your shop or service area, then widen the circle once you see what comes back.
A first San Antonio mailing, priced
Many first mailings use 2,500 6″ × 11″ postcards, at $399, or the 4.25″ × 11″ card at $309 for the same quantity. Both meet the USPS size rule for EDDM.
Add door hangers for the streets right around your business and you cover both the close blocks and the wider routes. Postage for the mailed cards is paid to USPS at drop-off.
Looking local to San Antonio homeowners
Homeowners prefer a company that is clearly from their area. Put a local touch on every piece, such as the neighborhoods you serve or a photo taken in town.
Use the same design on hangers, postcards, cards and signs so each one reinforces the others. Call 512-573-1977 and Corey will help you set up a matching set.
